Breckenridge 3

We woke up early on Thursday morning so we could eat breakfast out at this cute little cafe. The weather was quite frigid as we bundled ourselves and waddled down the street, trying to enjoy the 35 degree weather as much as we could before heading back home to the blistering South. As recommended, the breakfast was mouthwatering with every bite. Every time I opened my mouth, my tastebuds rejoiced with simply the potential of what was coming. Finally, my stomach overcame my tastebuds, and I just could not fit anymore inside. What a shame.

The few hours at the spa afterwards were wonderful! It really helped the hurt feel better, at least for a little while. In addition, our spirits were happy at the heavy snow we got to walk around in afterwards. After the spa, we took naps and then got ready to go spend our $75 endurance money (see previous post) at a fancy restaurant as our anniversary dinner. The view of the snowy mountains was amazing! Man was this dinner awesome! And because we were not spending our own money, we did not hold back on ordering. I had Alaskan Halibut with cucumber salad, some seasoned rice stuff and tea, and Stephen had a lovely New York strip with some kind of yummy twiced-baked potato, broccolini (I'm not sure) and tea. It truly was the most attractive meal I've ever had and quite tasty at that. If you know me, you know I'm a SLOW eater. Well, this food was so good that I even beat Stephen to the finish line. Mmmmmm..... And to top it off, we ordered a triple chocolate decadence dessert. I'm positive that heaven must have some of that dessert in it. I did take pictures of this food. Most of them were a tad blurry, but I was trying my darndest to remain inconspicuous while photographing my food. Yes, I was that weird person who took pictures of her food. But it was just that amazing!

Friday we woke up pretty early so that we could turn in our car at the airport and get our bags checked for our 10:45 a.m. flight. Thinking that Denver was a mere hour and a half away, we left at 7:30 thinking we had plenty of time. Well, we turn on the GPS, and it registers an arrival time of 9:45 a.m.--before we got gas for the trip Remind you that Delta requires bags be checked 45 minutes ahead of the flight time. I won't confess the words that ran through my head. The people at the gas station did not help. People--all I have to say is if you have to go in to pay, move your car away from the pump; don't lock it and leave it with all the other pumps occupied!!!!!!! So, Stephen pulled deep down inside himself and managed to go over the speed limit a bit. He shaved a whole 15 minutes off of our arrival time. We told the car people that we were in a hurry to check our bags. The rushed us through and we jumped on a shuttle who rushed us to the counter. We checked our bags with a whole 10 minutes to spare, shuffled through security and made it to our gate with enough time for a restroom break before they began boarding. Not quite as smooth as the journey to the ATL airport, but it worked. We even had an in-flight movie on this plane. Stephen watched it, but I read my Runners World magazine that I had purchased prior to eating dinner at the Dam Brewery on Sunday. No, I did not make that name up, but I do think it's funny because I really am 12 years old. We were also surrounded by 18947 babies and toddlers on this flight. They all liked to scream, mostly in unison. I really am not kidding about the screaming. For real, at the end of the flight a random lady turned around to the two children behind her and said, "Look, you guys need to cut it out. I don't know where your parents are but CUT IT OUT!" She almost drew applause.

Mom picked us up from the airport, although she wasn't holding a sign for us. God parted the traffic in Atlanta during the Friday drive-home traffic, and we made it home in great time. After some laundry and Indiana Jones, we drifted off to sleep, woke up, ate some food and headed to Alabama. We are now in our own home, and I am reunited with my Mac. We miss Ella and will pick her up tomorrow. We'll put up some pictures later. Thanks for journeying with us on this adventure. We had loads of fun and are looking forward to many years more of such a fun marriage!
